How to get from the airport to the center?
Most likely you’ll arrive at Fiumicino (also known as “Leonardo da Vinci Airport”) and have to go to Rome center. That’s a 34 km (21 miles) from center. Cheapest option is a shuttle bus to station Termini, 7 € single fare, Return ticket is 13 €. You can book your ticket (might be in german?) in internet. Meeting at 000054 Fiumicino, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy or with a AirportShuttleExpress – more expensive, maybe easier? Should also go via booking.com, but there I only found taxi (mas mahal!).
Ciampino is used from some low-cost carriers and is closer to the city.
How can we travel from Rome to Assisi, Scienna etc.?
Lily asked for a private bus, however that’s around 450 € (550 € including Sienna). If I remind it and it’s limited to 8 ppl, so Lily and Stefan can’t join (no problem), but still some money. about k4P PAX. Guess that’s the fastest and most convenient way, especially if you like to see Scienna also. Information about travelling to Assisi you’ll find here (best way to get there). Train seems to be fast+cheaper, but not as comfortable. Check train. Might be special discounts for train starting from 10 ppl. – can somebody please check?
