Today we started our Day with visiting Chiesa di Sant’ Ignazio di Loyola

Continuing to Pantheon, we arrived at the Piazza della Rotonda with the Obelisco Macuteo

Unfortunally the waiting line was way to long, so we only could get a peek from the outside of Pantheon, or better, Basilica di Santa Maria ad Martyres.

Continuing our journey, after arriving at Bocca della Verità – we had to fall in line again – like so often these days. But also as usual, we got a Reward for waiting

Should have been warned by the Movie Roman Holiday – we were to careless. As it turns out, even after all these years, it still is a man eater

The Bocco is located in Basilica die Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Forum Boarium, the cattle market in the ancient Rome.

Directly on the opposite site of the street, “Templo di Ercole Vincitore” (Hercules Victor) and the “Fontana dei Tritoni

Crossing Tiber via Ponte Palatino (aka English Bridge) to Trastevere.

You cannot always be a winner. Often enough you’re on the loser side of life. Especially, if you trust in Google – as we experienced that day – more then just once. It started with a Bus Stop in a Road under Construction

On the way up to “Basilica di Santa Sabina all’Aventino” (and the park “Giardino degli Aranci” / Parco Savello), one of the uncountable fontains with drinking water quality – a welcome help when walking around. We enjoyed the stunning view in that park, as well as the Musicians and the beautifull athmosphere.

After waiting for a bus (which didn’t come, but brought us a welcome pause), we continued with Metro to one of the most beautifull churches at all:

San Paolo fuori le mura, lateinisch ecclesia Sancti Pauli extra muros

Showing all Popes from ancient time to today. It’s a legend, that the world will go down, once there’s no place for the current pope in that church anymore..

Saint Peter (with the key to heaven) and Saint Paul are usually paired in statues close to each other.

Paul’s tomb
Through an opening in the wall behind the grille, one can see a piece of the side of the sarcophagus in unfinished marble, in which the coffin of St Paul is kept.
Chain of St Paul
In the gold-bronze reliquary between the tomb and the papal altar is kept a chain consisting of nine rings. According to an unchallenged ancient tradition, it is part of the chain that forced St Paul to live in a state of captivity in Rome.
